WWE went to great lengths to keep Kane’s surprise return a secret

It’s well known by now that on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Portland, OR at the Moda Center at the Rose Quarter on the USA Network, Braun Strowman took on Roman Reigns in a Steel Cage match.

The stipulation going into the match was that if Reigns won then, Strowman would be removed from the main event of the TLC PPV. However, if Strowman won then another Superstar would be added to The Miz’s team at the event.

Strowman ended up winning the match after Kane made his return to WWE TV by coming through the ring and attacking Reigns. The TLC main event will now see The Shield take on The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, Strowman, and Kane in a TLC Match.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE officials put extra effort into hiding Kane for his surprise return.

According to the report, the former WWE Champion flew into a different airport on Monday instead of the airport in Portland, then was driven to Portland and hid the entire time until they were ready for him to go under the cage for the main event.

Regarding the upcoming TLC PPV (pay-per-view) event, it was noted that the main event is expected to be very long. Keep in mind that WWE can always add more matches to the lineup if they need to fill more time there are various ideas for Elias plus the possibility of doing another Matt Hardy & Jason Jordan vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson match.

The TLC pay-per-view event takes place on October 22nd at the Target Center in Minnesota, Minneapolis and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. This will be an exclusive RAW brand event.
