The FA Cup fourth round threw up a few surprises this weekend, although on occasion the class of the Premier League ran true.

That was certainly the case at Deepdale, where Chelsea strengthened their favourites credentials with a 2-0 victory over Preston. Skipper John Terry led by example, while Deco ran the second half show playing out of position, and both get a starting place. Striker Nicolas Anelka made the difference in-front of goal, and finds his way to the bench.

The upset of the weekend came at the Britannia Stadium, and Ricardo Fuller’s brace in the victory over Arsenal secured the striker a starting spot in our side.

He’s partnered up front by the man-of-the-moment, Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford. His double against Spurs earned an Elland Road replay and the former Wealdstone man was arguably the star of the round.

Reading continued their FA Cup giant-killing run with a victory over Burnley, and the Royals had Adam Federici to thank in a hard-fought 1-0 victory. Defender Ivor Ingimarsson also makes it onto the bench.

Derby are another Championship side who have made it into the fifth round after a 1-0 win against Doncaster. Full back Jay McEveley scored an 88th minute screamer to win the tie, enough to earn a starting place in the side, while Stephen Bywater finds himself on the bench after his clean sheet.

Portsmouth midfielder John Utaka grabbed a brace against Sunderland, helping Pompey to a morale boosting 2-1 victory at Fratton Park. The attack-minded midfielder impressed throughout and gets a starting place after setting up a tie with Southampton.

The Saints produced a minor-upset by beating Championship side Ipswich, and Wayne Thomas starts for the GMF XI after scoring the first and helping with-stand a late onslaught from the Tractor Boys.

There was drama at the Hawthorns as West Bromwich Albion beat Newcastle 4-2. Robert Dorrans kept his head and scored twice from the penalty spot, but his all-round commanding performance earns a spot in our starting line-up.

Toon striker Andy Carroll makes the bench after a valiant double, while Baggies defender Jonas Olsson also sits after scoring in the game.

Manchester City came through a battle with Scunthorpe, and Bulgarian international Martin Petrov provided an impressive all-round display to go with his early goal.

The final starting spot goes to Bolton defender Gary Cahill, who helped the Trotters negate a tough looking tie against Sheffield United with consummate ease, Cahill nullifying the Blades’ attacking threat.

Completing the bench for GMF, one Premier League star and one League Two midfield maestro. Ashley Young added a goal to his captain’s performance in the victory over Brighton, while Notts County star Ben Davies scored a 30-yard free kick in the 2-2 draw with Wigan.
