Manchester United cruised through to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory over Swansea City.

Jesse Lingard's brace separated the two sides at the Liberty Stadium, with both goals supremely taken by the 24-year-old.

His opener in the 21st minute came following some lovely build-up play. Ander Herrera's pass was beautifully flicked on by Marcus Rashford for Lingard to tuck into the bottom-right corner.

And for his second on the hour mark, Lingard powerfully met Matteo Darmian's cross to blast a header past Kristoffer Nordfeldt. Two-nil, job done.

Manager Jose Mourinho was mightily impressed by what he saw from Lingard against Swansea, saying: "Jesse played well and played with a lot of freedom.

"We tried to give him good protection behind with the experience of Ander Herrera and strength of Scott McTominay. We played with two strikers with a lot of enthusiasm and it was a good dynamic.

"We are trying to defend our cup to the maximum we can and now we go to the quarter-finals. That's it and we are happy."

Mourinho also hailed his players' attitudes after such a disappointing result against Huddersfield, adding: "Yes, since the first minute, we felt we were in the game.

"We had a couple of corners, we were pressing high on the pitch and it was good."

Lingard has a knack for scoring important goals in cup competitions for United, which fans only wish would translate into the Premier League.

Another thing Lingard could do with improving, though, are his interview skills.

Despite coming across as very confident and ladish, the England international isn't very good when a camera and microphone are stuck in his face.

Following the Swansea win, Lingard gave a pretty terrible interview which lacked all personality and charisma. He didn't even seem happy about being named Man of the Match.
