After a bright start to the season, Manchester United's early form came crashing down on the weekend.

Jose Mourinho's side had gone unbeaten in their opening eight Premier League games, and were expected to continue that streak away at Huddersfield on Saturday.

However, Man United were put to the sword as they succumbed 2-1 in a major shock to the underdogs.

With that major disappointment, Mourinho would have wanted his team to bounce back at the earliest opportunity.

And he got the best possible start, with Man United taking the lead thanks to a 21st minute goal from Jesse Lingard.

Marcus Rashford's clever flick presented the 24-year-old with a glaring goal-scoring opportunity, and Lingard did not disappoint as he caressed the ball into the corner of the net.

And Lingard doubled his side's lead with a tremendous header from the edge of the box to score his second goal of the night.

That was how it finished, meaning Mourinho's men march on to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

However, Man United fans were not happy with their Portuguese manager for the decisions he made in the latter stages of the game.

With the 20-time English champions 2-0 up and the tie all but secured, Mourinho decided to bring Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku off the bench.

With Man United welcoming Tottenham to Old Trafford on Saturday, many Man United fans could not understand why Mourinho would risk the fitness of two of his star players with such an important tie approaching.
