The WWE has really been capitalizing on the best ways to bring in revenue over the past several years, and Total Divas was one of their best decisions.
Total Divas looks into the real lives of the women of WWE. The show is able to grasp a wide variety of audiences; as males want to know what their favorite WWE Divas do off screen, and women fans are able to connect with the product more, perhaps leading to more female views of actual WWE in-ring programming.
Over the course of the past few seasons we have seen several WWE Divas on and off as main characters. One former WWE female star was JoJo Offerman, who many WWE fans know as the ring announcer on Monday Night RAW.
JoJo was once an in-ring talent on NXT and was one of the featured stars on Total Divas' first season. During that season she began a relationship with former WWE Superstar Justin Gabriel. Gabriel was much older than Offerman at the time, however, and decided to break things off.
Interestingly enough, that breakup took place on-camera for the show. Gabriel was recently a guest on the Pancakes And Powerslams podcast to talk about a variety of topics. One such topic was his stint with Total Divas.
Gabriel described how Total Divas producers approached him about breaking up with Offerman on camera for the show (quotes via Wrestling Inc.):
"I didn't want to be a part of [Total Divas] at all. They filmed some stuff, and I started talking to JoJo because I thought she was a pretty cool person," Gabriel said. "I never realized she was so young, I think she was like 18 or 19 at the time.
"And we kind of went that route [to dating], and they were like, 'Hey. Do you want to be on the show?' I was like, 'Yeah. Sure, what do I have to do?'
"They said, 'nothing, just go on dates,' and we went on multiple dates. They'd take film, which never aired, by the way; we filmed so many cool things,, and I said to the producers, 'I don't think I can do this.
"Like, she's 19, and I don't think this is going to work. I'm a 30-year-old man.' And he was like, 'Ok. fair enough. Then you have to break up with her on TV.' And that's the scene they played."
