Great players do not always translate into great managers, but Zinedine Zidane can be considered an exception.

After enjoying an illustrious playing career, in which many people consider him to be one of the best players of all time, Zidane ventured into management by taking the reigns of Real Madrid's B Team in 2014, before being promoted to first team manager in 2016.

Since becoming manager of Los Blancos, the Frenchman has already enjoyed great success, by winning back-to-back Champions League titles and also claiming La Liga glory last year.

His success led him to being crowned The Best FIFA Coach award for 2017 earlier this week, ensuring he became the first person to win both the Ballon D'or and The Best Coach award.

But, despite enjoying a tremendous 2017, the 45-year-old still does not think he is the best manager in the world.

Zidane told Real Madrid's official website, per the Daily Mail: "I don’t think I’m the best coach in the world. If in 10 years I keep winning, maybe I’ll say that I am, but not at the moment.

"I’m only thinking about this year. I’m interested about the day-to-day work because everything can change quickly. I’ve got experience as a player and I know how things work.

"No euphoria, a lot of work and thinking about working day to day, and more so at this club. I don’t think about the future, only this season."

After he was named the best coach in world football, Zidane was also questioned who his most important player was.

Surprisingly, despite Cristiano Ronaldo scoring 413 goals in 404 appearances and having won three Ballon D'or's whilst at the club, Zidane did not choose the Portuguese as his star man.

Instead, Zidane opted for Real Madrid's club captain, Sergio Ramos.

Speaking to Radio Marca, per the Mirror, Zidane said: "Ramos knows that he is our captain. And in the end, he is the most important player on the team."

A strange choice.

Although Ramos is the club captain and is probably the best defender in world football at the moment, a big part of Real Madrid's recent success has been down to the brilliance of Ronaldo up front.

Despite the fact Ronaldo is rapidly approaching his 33rd birthday, his importance is still plain to see and it is almost certain that Real Madrid would not have enjoyed the same success without him.
