WWE officials are gearing up for WrestleMania 34.
WrestleMania 34 is set to be held on April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This event airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network and is the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history. Both Raw and SmackDown rosters will be featured on the card.
It’s well known by now that Brock Lesnar has been scheduled to face Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 34. This has been the plan for a while now. At one point, WWE officials did talk about having John Cena take on Reigns at WrestleMania.
However, WWE briefly changed the SummerSlam main event from being Lesnar defending the WWE Universal Championship against Braun Strowman to Lesnar vs. Reigns.
Another match planned for the event involves former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey. There was speculation that WWE is planning to have the Four Horsewomen of MMA face the Four Horsewomen of NXT at the upcoming Survivor Series PPV (pay-per-view) event.
However, it doesn’t appear that it will happen as the Four Horsewomen of NXT already has a match lined up for the event.
The Survivor Series pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, November 19, 2017, in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown brands will be featured.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE officials are still planning on doing the Horsewomen vs. Horsewomen match. Instead of it taking place at Survivor Series, it is being planned for WrestleMania 34. As to why the match has been pushed back until then is because there's a Raw vs. SmackDown theme at Survivor Series.
The other reason the sports entertainment company is waiting until next year is the feeling that the extra time will help them get Rousey, Duke and Shafir ready for the ring.
If you recall, Rousey did an in-ring segment with The Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 31 back in 2015 in which she got physical with McMahon. Flair and Rousey have been teasing a match against each for what seems like forever. Either Rousey facing McMahon or Flair would be a huge match. Rousey has been training for her professional wrestling career over the last few months.
