Chris Jericho opens up on having real-life heat with Triple H in the Attitude Era

Chris Jericho has opened up about his professional wrestling career.

The former WWE Champion has been under contract with the sports entertainment company off and on since 1999.

Jericho is a six-time world champion, having won the WWF Championship once, the WCW/World Championship twice, and WWE's World Heavyweight Championship three times.

He is also a record nine-time Intercontinental Champion. Jericho is the first Undisputed WWF Champion, and thus the final holder of the World Championship (formerly the WCW World Heavyweight Championship), having won and unified the WWF and World titles by defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock on the same night in 2001.

He is also the ninth Triple Crown Champion, as well as the fourth Grand Slam Champion in WWE history. Jericho recently appeared on Hot Ones podcast to talk about various topics. During the interview, he spoke about having real-life heat with Triple H during the Attitude Era. Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of No DQ):

"Triple H. In 2002, we didn't like each other. I think we were almost pitted against each other in a lot of ways. We had great chemistry, great matches…I just didn't like him, he didn't like me, and there was no falseness. Now I love him. Great guy."

When asked about the differences between wrestling in Japan to the United States, Jericho stated, "When you first go there, you're like, 'Do I suck? Why is there no reaction whatsoever?'…They're respectfully watching because, to them, it's a real craft."

In terms of the top trash talkers of all-time in the WWE, Jericho said, "Obviously Rock has to be in there, Steve Austin was a great talker for sure. [John] Cena's really good, but sometimes he gets a little bit immature…"

When asked about which pop-culture figures that would make a good heel in WWE, Jericho noted that, "I loved Dwight Schrute in 'The Office,' just being a f*cking assh*le… Not tough, but just that guy you're just like 'This guy's just a jerk.' That's a great character [for] wrestling or anything. You have to fall into the character, become the character."
