The World Series is underway, and baseball fans are in for a treat as two of the highest-scoring teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) go head-to-head for all the glory - the Houston Astros and The Los Angeles Dodgers.
The series is already two games in, with the Astros and Dodgers splitting the series one game a piece. Last night's (Wed. October 25, 2017) game from Los Angeles was the best thus far, and possibly the best in World Series history, as the lead was exchanged multiple times before Houston was able to squeeze out a tight win.
One key reason for Houston's victory was the performance of starting pitcher Justin Verlander, who has been a godsend for Houston this season after trading for him earlier this year. It has been a wild ride for the star pitcher, who is currently undefeated as a starter in playoff action.
During a recent interview, Verlander credited his teammates for keeping him up throughout the series (quotes via MLB.com):
"My teammates … they've picked me up so many different ways," Verlander said. "It's been so much fun to be a part of this ride. And it doesn't get any better than this game.
"That was one of the most gut-wrenching, most exciting -- I mean, you can't have a better game of baseball than that. And for it to be in the World Series, it's incredible."
"I mean, I've been part of some pretty exciting games," Verlander said. "But with all that this one entailed to be in the World Series and to be down a game, the roller coaster of emotion ... this is an instant classic, and to be able to be part of it is pretty special."
What are your thoughts on Verlander's comments in which he says that his teammates are picking him up during this World Series? What are your thoughts on Verlander's performance during Game Two? And who do you think will take the Series once it is all said and done? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
