Just when Arsenal fans were coming to terms with the idea of losing Mesut Ozil next year, the German goes and produces a performance like that against Everton.

One goal and one assist were the crowning jewels of a fantastic display at Goodison park, where Ozil was at his majestic best.

Every pass was executed to perfection and for someone that is accused of being lazy, there wasn't a moment where Ozil was stood still.

He was so good against Everton that he not only won Man of the Match, but his manager, Arsene Wenger, said he's playing his best football again.

"I would say [he is back to his best]," Wenger told Sky Sports. "I told him after the game that a fit Ozil is completely different.

"If you're not at your best physically, no matter how good you are, you are at a handicap.

"It's very difficult to single out any performances as everyone played very well. It was important to get our first win away from home."

Ozil's contract at Arsenal expires next summer and while Wenger maintains he could still sign an extension, it's not looking likely.

It leaves the Frenchman with a tough decision to make: sell Ozil in January for a cut-price fee or take a risk by waiting until the summer and hope he agrees a new deal.

One factor that will play a huge role in the Germany international's future is Manchester United's reported interest.

Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on a reunion with Ozil, who he managed at Real Madrid and once hailed as the world's best No.10.

There are also claims that Ozil wants to leave Arsenal for United, but according to Manchester Evening News, he's been given some advice where a move in January is concerned.

M.E.N claim Ozil has been warned he should avoid leaving Arsenal in the winter and wait until the summer if he wants a significant pay increase.

Ozil currently earns in the region of £150,000-per-week at the Emirates Stadium but wants more than £200,000-per-week, which United would be prepared to give him.

Joining for free in the summer, though, would save Mourinho millions and give Ozil more leverage when it comes to his weekly salary as opposed to in January.

Wenger will hope to keep Ozil at all costs after watching him against Everton and what could seal the deal is finally giving I'm the No.10 shirt he's always craved.

Jack Wilshere currently wears No.10 at Arsenal but Ozil is unhappy with No.11 and wants to make the switch.
