“When Giroud shows his grandkids a compilation of his best goals they're going to think he was better than Pele.”The words of Matt Spiro, a France-based football writer whose tweet about the Arsenal centre-forward went viral last week.Spiro was reacting to Olivier Giroud’s fabulous winning goal against Red Star Belgrade last week, where he produced a remarkable moment of technique and improvisation to beat goalkeeper Milan Borjan.Although nobody in their right mind will ever speak of Giroud in the same breath as Pele, arguably the greatest footballer of all time, there’s no doubt he’s built up a magnificent collection of wonder goals over the years. This was just the latest in an ever-growing line of Giroud stunners.

Somebody has now made the video

A week on from Spiro’s tweet and someone has actually made the video that Giroud will be able to show to his grandchildren one day.

The video starts with a person opening a drawer and taking out the VHS - complete with a custom made front cover, full marks for effort - and popping it into the player.

We’re then treated to a couple of minutes of Giroud magic.

Along with the footage are a bunch of audio clips from the likes of Arsene Wenger, Gary Neville and Thierry Henry praising other players. However, the video has been designed to make it sound as if they’re hailing Arsenal’s No. 12. Very clever - and funny.

The footage also suggests Giroud won FIFA’s ‘The Best’ award ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi earlier this week when, as we all know, he wasn’t even in the running for the coveted individual accolade.

He did, however, win the prestigious FIFA Puskas Award for 2017 thanks to his incredible scorpion kick against Crystal Palace last season.
