Manchester United claimed a very important three point on Saturday afternoon, beating Tottenham 1-0 thanks to late Anthony Martial winner.Trailing Manchester City, the two sides were equal on goal difference - although Tottenham were without star man Harry Kane, who was sidelined with a hamstring problem.Spurs have been beaten by West Ham and Manchester United since losing Kane to injury in the 4-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday. As has been the case of a number of recent Man United outings, it was a pretty unremarkable game in which neither goalkeeper was really tested.Martial came on to replace Marcus Rashford in the 70th minute and had the desired effect, firing home the only goal of the game with 10 minutes remaining. It was a simple route one move which began with a David De Gea long kick. Romelu Lukaku nodded the ball on and Martial - via a small deflection - did the rest. The win keeps Jose Mourinho's side breathing down the neck of league leaders Manchester City, who will be hoping to reconsolidate their five point lead when they face West Brom on Saturday.

Martin Tyler's live reaction on Sky

Famously, Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler celebrated Martial's stunning debut goal against Liverpool like a Manchester United fan.

More evidence has come to light which seems to suggest Tyler has a soft spot for the 21-year-old French forward.

Just as Martial pulled the trigger in front of Hugo Lloris, Tyler could be heard shouting "Get in!" in the gantry.

Fans on Twitter could barely believe it - although it should be noted that Tyler may have actually been saying "getting".

Speaking in the post-match interview, Mourinho was reluctant to heap praise on his match-winner and noted that it was a "bad shot".

"Sometimes he [Martial] starts the match and his contribution is good but he doesn't score," said the former Chelsea manager. "He scored with a bad shot, but sometimes a bad shot can be a beautiful one."

Despite his manager's comments, Martial will feel he's done more than enough to earn a starting berth against Benfica on Tuesday night.
