Last weekend at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, for the first time in 11 years, Kurt Angle stepped inside a WWE ring for a match to team up with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose of The Shield against The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus, Braun Strowman, and Kane.
The Olympic Hero's inclusion into the 5-on-3 handicap Tables, Ladders, and Chairs main event came surprisingly, as Roman Reigns was supposed to be part of the match as part of The Shield reunion, but he was unable to compete due to medical issues of having the mumps.
Angle, therefore, had a medical, and once he was cleared to compete, he decided to replace The Big Dog in the match, making it his first WWE match since 2006.
He played a major impact in the outcome of the clash, as well as despite Strowman performing a Running Powerslam through a table on Angle, leading to medical personnel taking him backstage, he later came back to the match and issued Angle Slams on Cesaro, Sheamus, and The Miz.
The Olympic Hero then performed The Shield's triple powerbomb with Ambrose and Rollins on Miz to win the match. This was good booking of Angle as, despite the TLC rules, he was kept safe throughout the majority of the match, keeping him healthy for matches in the future, which have been widely speculated.
In the past week, rumors have emerged stating the WWE is planning a big match for Angle at WrestleMania 34 next year in New Orleans.
This would be his first match at WWE's biggest show of the year since WrestleMania 22 when he defended the World Heavyweight Championship in a Triple Threat match against Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton.
Fuel has been added to that speculation after The Olympic Hero posted a photo on his Instagram account of himself with a wrestling seamstress in what appears to be them discussing different fabrics and colors for the wrestling gear he'll wear in his first singles match in WWE since his return.
Angle is expected to have another match at one of the company's big four pay-per-views; Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and WrestleMania. With there being plenty of dream matches and opportunities on the table for him, WWE just needs to make sure he stays healthy enough to make these matches happen.
