Russell Westbrook did what was deemed impossible in the modern NBA era by averaging a triple-double last season, becoming just the second player to ever achieve the feat alongside Oscar Robertson.

Westbrook also surpassed the 'Big O' by notching the most triple-doubles in a single campaign and these accomplishments have already guaranteed the superstar a place in NBA history.

The MVP is not resting on his laurels and has continued to post incredible numbers this year too.

In the Oklahoma City Thunder's recent 101-69 rout of the Chicago Bulls, he put up 12 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists in just 28 minutes of action.

By doing so, the point guard became the first player to ever record a triple-double against 29 different teams. Not even the great Robertson was able to do that back in his heyday.

His teammate Paul George described him as a "special player" after that game and believes he's already set himself up for a place among the greats of the league.

"Man, that's a special player. He’s solidifying himself early as a hall of famer,” George said.

"It was crazy to see playing against him, and it's even crazier to see him doing it night in and night out being on his team. It's crazy. There's not a player that's been in this league that's been at his [effort] level."

Six games into the season, Russ is averaging 22.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 12.0 assists per game, which is amazing considering the arrivals of PG13 and Carmelo Anthony was supposed to have an impact on his production.

But we learned from the 28-year-old's play last season that nothing seems impossible for him on the court.

Despite coaching him for over two years, head coach Billy Donovan expressed the appreciation he has for his star player every night he takes to the floor.

"I try never -- being on the sidelines and working with him -- ever take it for granted because he's such a unique individual," he said. "And more than anything else with him, it's really his mentality that I have great respect for and an admiration that I love.

"I realise the amount of effort it takes and the commitment it takes on his part to go out there and do that, impact the game in so many different areas."

The Thunder are next in action on Tuesday night when they travel to face the Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
