Coventry chairman Ray Ranson has quashed rumours that he put a £3million price tag on Keiren Westwood before the close of the January transfer window.

The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper was expected to move to the Premier League with Tottenham making a last-ditch bid for player.

Ranson said: "I want to put the record straight. I never put a price tag on Keiren Westwood and I have never quoted any price to any club. That is not my style."

He added: "I didn't quote any figures to Tottenham. They made an inquiry and they were turned down and that's it."

Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman added: "We got the call at about quarter to or 10 to five and it was never going to happen."
