Last season, Chelsea were renowned for their solid defence.Under the stern Italian leadership of Antonio Conte, the Blues were formidable in the Premier League, nullifying attacks at will and romping to the Premier League title. However, in 2017/18, their toughness at the back appears to have gone, with Chelsea now conceding goals in most games.Burnley put three past them and Crystal Palace also scored twice against them, but their biggest humiliation came against Roma in the Champions League. Two weeks back, they recorded a 3-3 draw with the Serie A side at Stamford Bridge but this time around, things went very, very wrong.Roma managed to score three goals unanswered, Chelsea now in danger of not finishing top of their group. All game, Conte's defence were dreadful, with Antonio Rudiger hugely at fault for the first goal and Marcos Alonso turning in a woeful performance.Cesc Fabregas gifted Roma their third goal but it was one moment after all three goals had been scored that summed up Chelsea's night.Diego Perrotti should have made it four, but it was the way the defence chased the ball prior to his chance that was almost unbelievable to watch.

It also wasn't a pretty night for Pedro Rodriguez, who was brutally nutmegged by former Manchester City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov.

That act pretty much summed up the performance of Conte's men in the Italian capital.

Chelsea's problems will likely continue when they welcome Jose Mourinho's Manchester United to the Bridge on Sunday.

The Red Devils strolled into the Champions League knockout stages by beating Benfica 1-0 on Tuesday and will be full of confidence against an out-of-form Chelsea side.
