WWE has the next challenger for the Intercontinental in place.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it appears Braun Strowman is going to be paired up against The Miz for the Intercontinental Title in the future.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on when this program will start or when their first match will take place. Keep in mind that after the Survivor Series PPV event, Raw doesn’t have a PPV event until the Royal Rumble.

The Royal Rumble pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown brands will be featured.

Strowman has risen up the ranks in WWE in a short amount of time after making his main roster debut just a few short years ago as part of The Wyatt Family. He has learned as he goes to be a top Superstar.

It’s well known that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is a fan of big men. Just look at who he has pushed in the past. Superstars like Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, The Undertaker, Kane, The Big Show, and the list goes on and on.

Miz became a host of the annual WWE Diva Search competition and began wrestling on the main roster in 2006. He was then drafted to the ECW brand in 2007 and formed a successful partnership with John Morrison by winning the WWE Tag Team Championship, World Tag Team Championship, and the 2008 Tag Team of the Year Slammy Award.

He was moved to Raw in 2009 where he would go onto win the United States Championship twice, the unified tag team titles with Big Show and the Raw Money in the Bank ladder match for a guaranteed WWE Championship match. He cashed it in to win the WWE Championship in November 2010 and went on to hold for six months.

He largely dropped out of world title contention after 2011, and the period of 2012 to 2017 has been marked by him winning the Intercontinental Championship seven times. He is also the third longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history by combined days, behind only Don Muraco and Pedro Morales.

The Miz is slated to take on United States Champion Baron Corbin in a non-title match at Survivor Series. On the flip side, Strowman is competing in the Male 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match alongside Raw general manager and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle as part of Team Raw against Team SmackDown that includes Shane McMahon (Team Captain), Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura and TBA.
