The Houston Astros are World Series Champions and the city of Houston couldn't be happier. One key component of Houston's success this year is none other than 23-year-old stud shortstop Carlos Correa.

Correa as selected by the Houston Astros in the 2012 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft with the first overall pick. The young Puerto Rican was sent to the Astros' minor league team in Florida after signing a $4.8 million contract with the team. After three years in the minors Correa was finally called up to the majors and made his debut in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox.

Over the past several years Correa has evolved into one of the best shortstops in the MLB and one of the most feared hitters in the league as well. Correa was a key part of the Astros' success in 2017 en-route to their first World Series win in franchise history.

After winning the series Correa was being interviewed by a reporter when he took the opportunity to shock baseball fans and propose to his girlfriend on live TV. Here's what he had to say (quotes via MLB.com):

"I took a big step in my life," Correa told the MLB Tonight crew a few minutes after he proposed to Daniella Rodriguez, who was Miss Texas in 2016. "I just got engaged after winning the World Series."

You can check out the proposal and Correa's reaction afterwards in the videos below:

Correa planned to propose to his girlfriend if the Astros won the game, but if they would have lost - Correa would have been doing something much more different:

"Plan B? If we lost, I would have been crying," he joked.

It turns out that Astros star pitcher Justin Verlander didn't even know that Correa had gotten engaged. He found out during a live interview on the FOX post-game show. Check out his reaction here below:

Verlander is also expected to be getting married very soon as he is engaged to supermodel Kate Upton.

What are your thoughts on Correa proposing to his girlfriend after winning the World Series last night? Did you expect the Astros to top Los Angles in their own stadium to win the big showdown? And who were you rooting for throughout the series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
