After the Southern District of New York has denied Ezekiel Elliott's request for an emergency injunction, many thought this would be the start of the end of the Dallas Cowboys running back's hopes of not serving his six-game suspension for domestic violence. However, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN, Cowboys fans can rejoice for the time being, as earlier today, the Second Circuit Court granted Elliott a temporary stay of his suspension, meaning he is eligible to play in the team's Week 9 game against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. It is important to remember that this is just effective for Week 9 and hasn't removed his suspension from ever being enforced, meaning there's still a chance he could miss six games this year, and we're more than likely to go through another legal process again with this situation next week.If a three-judge panel grants an injunction, Elliott will be allowed to play even while his appeal is heard by the Second Circuit and the suspension will once again be put off. However, if the court denies the injunction request, then he will have to serve the suspension even while appealing it in court. All of this can be rather confusing, so it's easy to understand why some NFL fans are reacting to the way they are to the news on social media.

The NFL suspended Elliott for six games at the start of the season after they determined there was evidence he physically assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson, last year. However, the running back was granted a preliminary injunction before the beginning of the 2017 season, and he hasn't missed a game since.

So far this season, Elliott has rushed for 690 yards and six touchdowns to go along with 19 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns. The running back has achieved 100 rushing yards in each of his past three outings for the Cowboys, who currently have a 4-3 record.

We now wait to see what the three-judge panel has to say about the situation, but for the time being, Elliott will be with the Cowboys when they face off against the Chiefs on Sunday night.
