On Thursday, the Houston Texans were dealt with the horrible news that they had lost their star quarterback Deshaun Watson for the season after the rookie tore his ACL in practice.
The injury brings to an end what was a very exciting rookie season for Watson, as he had thrown 19 touchdowns in the space of just seven games. The quarterback injured his knee on a non-contact play during practice, which makes the injury even more unfortunate.
An MRI later confirmed that the rookie had torn his right ACL, and that he would require season-ending surgery in order to get it fixed. Texans fans will be glad it wasn't his left ACL, as Watson tore his left ACL while he was playing college football at Clemson.
NFL players and sports stars from around the USA have come out in support of Watson during this horrible time, including his teammate JJ Watt, Teddy Bridgewater (who suffered his own season-ending injury in a 2016 practice with the Minnesota Vikings), Kirk Cousins, Tyrann Mathieu, Jalen Ramsey, Vic Beasley, Vontae Davis, and Michel Thomas.
Another player that showed their love for Watson was Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants, whose own season came to an end when he fractured his ankle during a Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN, Beckham said this in his letter to Watson: "Lil bruh I know at this time things may be scary. Your first year in the league; running for MVP; trying to win a championship; trying to get the spot you deserve, to defy the odds, to do the things they said you can't, and it all gets taken away.
"Look back in life to when you faced adversity and thought you would not overcome it, and then you did. As life went on, more and more obstacles came your way that you had to again overcome time and time again but you got through it somehow. Now life throws you bigger problems and again you're faced with a test.
"Everything is a blessing in disguise. Truly believe that this all happens for a reason. Take this time to evaluate and appreciate everything you've been blessed with. Life's still good, kid. WE LIVINN! And we will be back better than ever. I'll see you this offseason lil b."
A truly touching letter from a great player recognizing a player that could turn out to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in years to come.
