After a shaky start to the season, the Golden State Warriors returned to their devastating best with back-to-back road wins over Western Conference rivals the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs.

With questions marks over their lack of consistency to begin the campaign - losing three games - they showed that they can still turn it on when they're all engaged and in sync on the floor together.

Their 112-92 win over the Spurs on Thursday night saw them overcome a 19-point first quarter deficit to secure an impressive win at the AT&T Center.

Klay Thompson led the Dubs in scoring as he put up 27 points on 11-of-17 shooting and 5-of-8 from downtown.

The shooting guard was also a huge factor for the team on the defensive end and it prompted head coach Steve Kerr to declare that his star is playing the best basketball he's seen from him.

“Klay is at his absolute peak for us now,” Kerr said.

The Dubs leader already used those words to describe his Splash Brother Stephen Curry during training camp and if Kerr is proved right and the duo hit new heights this season, it'll be bad news for the rest of the league.

Thompson has arguably been the Warriors' most consistent performer and is averaging 21.7 points per game on 52.7 percent shooting, a mark that would become a career-high if he sustains it in his seventh NBA season.

“It would be awesome to shoot that percentage from the floor throughout the whole year,” Thompson said. “It would be incredibly difficult. That’s what Kevin [Durant] shot last year. But if you’re around 50 percent as an outside shooter, that’s great. That’s what I aim for.”

So what does the three-time All-Star put his strong start down to?

“Not taking too much time off and staying in the gym,” Thompson explained. “Having fun, blasting music while I shoot and appreciating being able to play basketball for a living.”

He may not be considered a number one or number two option for the Oakland-based outfit on the offensive end but he always delivers when called upon and he stepped up in San Antonio when required.

“He’s under control,” Curry said. “That’s the biggest thing. Defenders are running him off the three-point line and he’s giving them pump fakes when he knows it’s time to pull that out within himself and making timely shots. He’s playing amazing right now. He’s obviously a catalyst for us.”
