Big Cass continues to work on coming back to in-ring action.
He suffered an injury during his Brooklyn Street Fight match with Enzo Amore in August on an episode of Raw in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center. As seen in the match, Cass went for a big boot but Amore moved, and Cass fell over the top rope and to the floor.
Although he attempted to tough it out, he was in a lot of pain. When he tried to hit the Empire Elbow on Amore, his knee buckled. This led to the referee and trainer checking on him. The match was then stopped.
WWE has confirmed the injury by posting the following statement on his injury:
“Big Cass suffered an injury to his left knee during the Brooklyn Street Fight against Enzo Amore on Raw, WWE.com can confirm. The injury occurred after Amore dodged a big boot by pulling down the top rope, sending Cass to the floor in the process.
Following the match, Big Cass was obviously upset with the injury as he was cursing and hitting his leg as well as the rope. A fan who was in attendance at the show has released a heartbreaking video as it looks like he knows how serious it is. He underwent surgery and will be out of action for at least nine months.
Prior to his injury, it was revealed by Corey Graves that Cass was behind the attacks on Enzo and that he faked his own attack in order to lure away suspicion that it was him. Cass admitted to this, expressing his frustration during his time teaming with Enzo, and then attacked him with a Big Boot, turning heel and disbanding the team as a result.
Big Cass was recently a guest on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, where he updated fans on his return timetable after tearing his ACL. During the interview, Cass says that he will be back shortly after Wrestlemania. Here is what he had to say:
“I’m in way better spirits than I was back in Barclays Center, that’s for sure. I’m right on schedule, from what the surgeon said. So, it should be shortly after WrestleMania.”
Cass is also growing a thicker beard. Here is a photo of him at the New York Jets game this past Thursday.
