Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has sent Twitter into meltdown with his opinion on Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.Everton are looking to replace the recently departed Ronald Koeman and reports suggest Simeone is considered the dream man.The Argentine coach has taken Atletico Madrid to new heights and famously beat Barcelona and Real Madrid to the La Liga title in 2014.Atletico have not enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2017/18 campaign but, despite that, are level on points with third placed Real Madrid.Meanwhile, Everton lie 15th in the Premier League and have already crashed out of the Europa League in embarrassing style.Koeman was sacked last week and David Unsworth has been given temporary charge, but looks unlikely to be awarded the job in a permanent position.Merson, formerly a winger for Arsenal, thinks very highly of the Premier League and genuinely believes Simeone would take a job at Goodison Park in order to manage in England.Speaking on The Debate, Merson said: "This is where it has taken Simeone now. People are saying he might be a bit big for the club but he's been around a long time, Atletico Madrid are not the team they were and they are falling behind a bit."He'll look at the Premier League and think 'right, I'm not going to be manager of Liverpool, Man City or Arsenal, maybe Chelsea' and all of a sudden, Everton are the next best thing. Even with where they are, they are the next biggest club with money and big wages, then he's in the Premier League."Everybody wants to be in the Premier League now. Spanish teams are kicking off at 11.30am now to try and get the market, but we don't have to in England. The Premier League is where everybody wants to be."

Merson has a tendency of sending fans mad with his opinions - and that was most definitely the case here.

His comments about Spanish kick-off times are frankly ridiculous too.

Asked if he would like to manage in England, Simeone has previously said “I still consider myself a young coach so I feel that it would be possible."

“There are many other leagues that would provide great challenges. But the English and Italian leagues are very attractive.”

English fans will hope to see Simeone on the touchline in the Premier League but surely no one - apart from Merson - thinks he'll be coming to Everton.
