Reading first-team coach Nigel Gibbs has signed a new 12-month rolling contract at the Madejski Stadium.

Gibbs, 44, has been with the club since the summer of 2006 and will remain a key part of manager Brian McDermott's backroom staff.

He said: "When Brian became manager he asked me to help him and now it's been made permanent."

Gibbs added: "The young players who are progressing into the first team are ones I have worked with before and hopefully we can do well together."
