What Alvaro Morata said to a fan who told him he isn't even worth £20m

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has been sublime since joining in a club-record transfer from Real Madrid this summer.

The Blues splashed out £58m on the 25-year-old Spaniard in July – but the fee could rise to as much as £70m, depending on add-ons.

Morata has already scored eight goals for his new club, including a brilliant headed winner in the recent 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Antonio Conte’s side look some way off the team that won the Premier League last season but the blow of losing Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid has certainly been softened by Morata’s amazing start to life in London.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been very impressed by the club’s new “complete striker” and heaped praise on him in a new interview.

“He’s been very impressive, Morata,” Lampard told Omnisport, speaking thanks to Chelsea FC club partners Yokohama Tyres.

“He’s scored regularly, he’s a very complete striker, he has everything – speed, quality on the ball, his movement is fantastic and he can score goals.

“The goal against Manchester United… the quality of the finish with his head was top class.

“I like him a lot and I think he’s going to score many goals in the Chelsea team and in the Premier League.”

Morata’s lame comeback

Premier League fans have undoubtedly been very impressed by Morata’s instant impact but the Real Madrid academy graduate recognises that he’ll always have critics.

Speaking exclusively to Cadena Ser during the international break, Morata revealed an exchange he shared with a fan.

“The other day someone told me your agent must be Harry Potter since you aren’t worth 20 million so I asked him how much he was worth – there will always be people ready to criticise.”

Even James Milner could’ve produced a better comeback than that!

Spain – who will be in pot two for the upcoming 2018 World Cup draw – are due to face Costa Rica and Russia over the international break.

Many of Leo Messi’s Barcelona teammates feature for the national team and the Argentine superstar recently named Spain as the one country he hopes to avoid in the draw.
