Jordan Pickford was always going to have a busy night in England’s goal vs Germany.
With many senior players withdrawing from Gareth Southgate’s squad, the Three Lions had a severely weakened side against the Germans.
While many football fans would have expected England to struggle, the scores were level at the half-time break.
The fact that it was goalless was mainly down to Pickford.
The Everton goalkeeper made a series of fantastic saves to deny the away side.
But it wasn’t just his saves that got everyone talking.
That’s because Pickford’s distribution was also being discussed on social media.
The 23-year-old has caught the attention of football fans in the past for his incredible kicking and he showcased that once again in the first-half against Germany.
After catching a speculative shot from Antonio Rudiger, Pickford didn’t hesitate before picking a 70-yard pass to Tammy Abraham.
While Abraham was beaten in the air by Mats Hummels, he regained possession meaning Pickford had effectively turned defence into attack with one outrageous kick.
Watch: Pickford's distribution
Take a look at Pickford’s kick and the reaction on Twitter:
Not bad considering it’s his debut…
With doubts over Joe Hart’s ability, Pickford will certainly be doing his chances of becoming England’s number one no harm whatsoever.
Could he be starting for Southgate’s side come the Russia World Cup next summer? Well, if he continues to play like this, he deserves the number one jersey.
However, it's not just Hart that he will need to overcome.
The likes of Jack Butland, Ben Foster and Fraser Forster will all be hoping to be on the plane for the World Cup.
