It’s incredible to remind oneself of just how quickly Kylian Mbappe has soared to the highest level of football. The 18-year-old has barely two-and-a-half years of senior experience under his belt yet is comfortably among the deadliest strikers on the planet. And unlike many before him, his reputation is largely built on factual statistics as opposed to contrived hype.Last season, Mbappe scored 26 goals in 44 appearances en route to Monaco winning Ligue 1 for the first time since 2000.It goes without saying he was vital to breaking a drought that’s stood since he was two-years-old, so much so Paris Saint-Germain were willing to offer a €180 million deal for his services.Mbappe – who will permanently join the capital-based club at the conclusion of his loan next year - has made a brave move at a very early stage of his career.Such was the clinical instinct he showed throughout last season, he’s sure to be expected to sustain a constant output of goals until the day he retires.Time will tell if Mbappe can live up to such anticipation, but for now, he’s simply a joy to watch, namely because there’s much more to his game than finding the net.

MAN OF THE MATCH AGAINST WALES

The former Monaco youth talent is also blessed with terrifying speed and elegant skill – two strengths he used to full effect during France’s 2-0 victory over Wales on Friday evening.

Held in Paris, the friendly match was an entertaining affair, especially with a new breed of Welsh talent on display.

But although Mbappe stole the show in a brilliant man of the match performance, one particular moment is worth watching over and over again.

With the ball coming to his feet out wide at the halfway line, the PSG hitman made use of what little space he had to completely embarrass an onrushing Neil Taylor.

The Swansea fullback was left gobsmacked as Mbappe dragged the ball behind himself before using his other foot to spin away and sprint into space.

Poor old Taylor – he never saw it coming and absolutely no chance of recovering.

MBAPPE'S SUBLIME SKILL

It’s glimmers of calculated flair such as this that make it increasingly difficult to believe Mbappe isn’t destined for greatness.

Then again, even he didn’t score another goal for the rest of his career, most fans would probably be content with watching him embarrass defenders on a regular basis.
