Manchester United are reported to be tracking AC Milan forward Klaas Jan Huntelaar, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to bolster his attacking options in the summer with strikers Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen failing to impress this season.

The Dutch striker has once again failed to settle at the San Siro and has spent much of this season on the bench for AC Milan.

Manchester United are due to play the Italian giants in just two days time in the start of the Champions League knock-out competition.

The game between the two clubs is already set to be a heated affair with former United midfielder David Beckham set to face his old club for the first time and Milan star Clarence Seedorf insisting that the English side are not one of the favourites for the competition.

It was reported that the United manager enquired about the availability of the 26-year-old in the January transfer window.

Huntelaar signed for Milan in 2009 from Real Madrid for €15 million and has made just 15 appearances for the club so far scoring five goals.
