Manager Nigel Adkins is expected to make changes to his Scunthorpe side for their home encounter with Barnsley.

The Iron were thrashed 5-1 by Leicester on Saturday and Adkins refused to make any substitutions during the game so as to subject his starting line-up to a humiliating experience.

Captain Cliff Byrne will miss the clash as he serves the second of a two-game ban while winger Garry Thompson is ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Andrew Wright could come into the defence at the expense of Michael Raynes while creative midfielder Martyn Woolford is also likely to return to the side.

Loan winger Donal McDermott will be involved as Adkins looks to ease his side's relegation worries with a win.

Saturday's defeat left them just one point and one place above the drop zone, with two of the sides below them having played a game less.

Barnsley will once again be without the experienced Iain Hume.

The striker sustained a hamstring injury on Friday and had to sit out the 3-1 defeat by Plymouth at Oakwell on Saturday and boss Mark Robins has now confirmed he will be missing for at least the next fortnight.

On-loan Burnley youngster Jay Rodriguez came into the side for Hume against the Pilgrims but will battle it out with fit-again Daniel Bogdanovic and Jon Macken for a place in the starting XI.

The Tykes will also be without defender Ryan Shotton as he sits out the third game of a four-match ban after being sent off in the 1-0 win over Watford on February 6.

Bobby Hassell has returned to training following a groin injury and is back in contention but Emil Hallfredsson is a doubt after picking up a knock and Rob Kozluk (knee) remains sidelined.
