Alexandre Lacazette looked in fine form for his national side.

Arsenal fans had a message for Arsene Wenger as Alexandre Lacazette scores vs Germany

Arsenal fans had every reason to get excited about the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

The former Lyon striker finished the 2016/17 season behind only Edinson Cavani in the race for the Ligue 1 Golden Boot.

Arsene Wenger is so often criticised for not getting his business done early enough, but he had the French international signed, sealed, and delivered by early July.

Le Professeur had never sanctioned a deal worth upwards of £50million before. Yet, it seemed he was willing to make an exception for his compatriot, such had been his impact on the continent.

Despite all that, he doesn't seem to be entirely convinced by the 26-year-old. Six goals from nine Premier League starts, and he still puts him on the bench for the big games.

To make matters all the more frustrating for the Emirates faithful, the forward continues to excel for Les Bleus. Didier Deschamps isn't always spot on about these things, but he seems to be onto something on this occasion.

And so, as Lacazette hit a brace to hold Germany to a 2-2 draw, Arsenal Twitter was virtually in meltdown at Wenger's bizarre decision-making.

Lacazette looked sharp

For the first goal, he was indebted to some brilliant footwork from Anthony Martial, a man who will no doubt sympathise with his plight of struggling to convince his domestic manager that he's worth a spot in his starting XI.

The end of the international break brings with it the small matter of the North London derby this weekend.

Given that Lacazette didn't start in the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City almost a fortnight ago, it's fair to assume he might have to make do with being an impact sub once again against Tottenham.
