Despite being the club's leading goal scorer and arguably their finest ever player, Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Real Madrid is far from an assured thing.

The Portuguese superstar has said on numerous occasions in 2017 that he wishes to depart Los Blancos, with several rumours in the summer suggesting he could be off to Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United.

However, no such move materialised due to the fact that Real wanted to keep hold of their talisman, not to mention €1bn release clause in his current contract with the club.

This season, Ronaldo has been nowhere near his best, scoring just once in La Liga, with Spanish midfielder Isco taking over as the main man for the time being.

Constant sulks and a general appearance of unhappiness on the pitch suggest CR7 isn't content with his situation and some revelations by AS will only intensify this theory.

RONALDO'S FOUR REASONS FOR WANTING TO LEAVE

Apparently, the Ballon d'Or favourite has four separate reasons for wanting to leave.

1. REAL'S INTEREST IN KYLIAN MBAPPE

Ronaldo thought that Zinedine Zidane's interest in the highly-rated French teenager was a personal insult towards him and demanded that if they got him, they would let him leave.

However, PSG swooped in, meaning Ronaldo stayed, with Real instantly offering him improved terms on his contract.

2. NEYMAR RUMOURS

Another big name has angered CR7, with Neymar's links to the club viewed as another insult to his credentials.

Basically, Real cannot sign another superstar until he leaves.

3. MONEY

Despite earning a ridiculous amount as it is (€21m a season), his salary actually pales in comparison to Neymar (€35m) and Lionel Messi (€40m).

CR7 wants parity with the two players who he will likely beat in the Ballon d'Or rankings.

4. TAX CASE

Yeah, this again. Ronaldo has said in the past how deeply disappointed he has been with Real's support of him during his tax evasion case in Spain.

He's so unhappy with his treatment by the authorities that it in itself is pushing him into leaving. When you factor in the other three, you can see why he looks so unhappy out on the pitch.
