Football News

Ever since their return earlier this year at WrestleMania 33, many WWE fans have been hoping The Hardy Boyz would be able to use their Broken gimmick with the company, but so far, they have not been able to.

An ongoing legal battle with Impact Wrestling over the rights to the gimmick has meant Matt and Jeff Hardy haven't been able to use the gimmick during their time in the WWE so far. They've been unsuccessful in their efforts.

However, that could all soon be about to change according to reports by PWinsider.com about the former Raw Tag Team Champions.

A couple of weeks ago, Matt submitted new information for a trademark of 'Broken Matt Hardy' including a poster of him as Broken Matt for a CWF Mid-Atlantic Wrestling show during his Expedition of Gold tour.

According to PWInsider, this has been successful as the 'Broken Matt Hardy' trademark will be published for opposition on December 19. This gives any parties who want to oppose the trademark a 30-day period beginning from that date to file an opposition.

If there is no opposition, the trademark will officially be in the hands of Hardy and available for him to use, within WWE or independently of the company.

This is great news for WWE fans that want to see the Broken gimmick and everything that goes along with it inside a WWE ring, as now we have a date for when that could happen.

30 days on from December 19 is January 18, 2018, so if no opposition is filed against the trademark then, from this point on, we could see the use of the Broken gimmick in the WWE.

Matt and Jeff would likely still be on the Raw brand at this date, meaning the first time we could see the gimmick is on January 22, 2018, which is also the 25th anniversary episode of Monday Night Raw with all the WWE legends returning, with the show emanating from Barclays Center and Manhattan Center, so what an episode of Raw this could be!

None of this happens though if someone files an opposition against them in the 30-day period though, so we'll just have to wait and keep our fingers crossed for the time being in hope that the Broken gimmick is finally coming to the WWE.
