Scunthorpe will welcome back skipper Cliff Byrne when Watford travel to Glanford Park.

The defender missed the last two games due to suspension after being sent off for the second time this season in the defeat at West Brom.

Byrne is expected to start at right-back, with recent signing Michael Raynes likely to make way.

Winger Garry Thompson could also return after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury, but manager Nigel Adkins will monitor his fitness ahead of the game.

The Iron have a doubt over defender Andrew Wright, who went over on his ankle in the victory against Barnsley on Tuesday night.

Adkins' side are 17th in the Championship table, just three points above the relegation zone.

Tom Cleverley makes a welcome return to the Watford squad.

The on-loan Manchester United midfielder, who has hit 10 goals this season, has missed the last two games with a knee injury but has been passed fit.

Boss Malky Mackay can also call upon on-loan striker Heidar Helguson, who would have been ineligible to face parent club QPR on Tuesday night but the game was postponed.

Winger Will Buckley, the January signing from Rochdale, will have to wait a little longer to make his debut as he is still struggling with a thigh strain.

Mackay has an otherwise fully-fit squad to choose from as the Hornets go in search of their first away win since October.
