Manchester United have spent an eye-watering £285m on player signings since Jose Mourinho arrived in the summer of 2016.

The Red Devils broke the world transfer record last summer, splashing out £89m on Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

Neymar's £198m transfer from Barcelona to PSG smashed that record - but few fans expect that record to stand for very long.

Manchester United recently confirmed record first-quarter revenue of £141million, despite the rising wage bill at the club.

Amid reported interest in Mourinho from PSG, Man United are expected to deliver key targets to the Portuguese coach once again.

The four players Man United are monitoring

According to the Mail on Sunday, the Manchester United board are happy to help sign Mourinho's transfer targets - and are following the former Chelsea manager's instructions by monitoring four highly-rated stars currently playing abroad.

The Reds have been linked with a January move for Spanish playmaker Carlos Soler and his is the first name mentioned by the Mail.

Soler, 20, has a £70m buyout clause at Valencia but recently played down interest from the Premier League.

The young midfielder said, "Regarding those things [the interested from Manchester United] I know nothing. It would be foolish to think about those things right now.

"I have to be focused at Valencia. I have a lot of years left [in my contract] and that’s what I have to do."

Man United are also monitoring Swedish RB Leipzig forward Emil Forsberg.

The 26-year-old, who lit up the Bundesliga in his debut 2016/17 campaign, shares an agent with compatriot Victor Lindelof.

The third player Man United are monitoring is Antoine Griezmann, who has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time.

Atletico's French star has been in fairly dismal form so far this season, having scored two La Liga goals in 10 starts.

He was hauled off by Diego Simeone in the Madrid derby on Saturday night but will reportedly have an €100m release clause when the transfer window opens in July 2018.

The fourth and final player Man United are monitoring is Real Madrid's Gareth Bale.

Mourinho has confirmed his interest in Real Madrid's injury-prone 28-year-old winger on a number of occasions.

Bale has struggled to make any kind of impact on the first team this season and Real Madrid may look to cut their losses and sell him at a cut-price in the upcoming transfer windows due to his injury problems.
