Swansea full-back Angel Rangel has signed a one-year extension to his contract at the Liberty Stadium.

The 27-year-old was out of contract at the end of the season, however, a clause was triggered in his existing deal when he started in his 23rd league game this term against Newcastle last weekend.

"I am very happy to sign the extension," Rangel told the club's official website. "I have always said that Swansea gave me my opportunity in British football and I am so grateful for it, and now my main aim is to reach the Premier League with the club."

He added: "And now I have played the 23 games I am just happy to have it sorted."
