The Houston Rockets have made a terrific start to the season and already look like serious challengers to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference.
They are currently tied with the Dubs for the best record in the west at 13-4 and possess one of the most devastating offences in the league.
Of their 13 wins, nine have impressively come on the road and they are an NBA-best 9-1 so far this year.
The Rockets are in the midst of a five-game road winning streak and have managed to tie a league record with the manner of their victories.
The Texas-based franchise has won all five games by a total of 15 or more points which ties the longest streak in NBA history.
But having played 10 of their 17 games away, Houston will have to wait until December to break that record as they're about to embark on a four-game homestand.
Superstar James Harden has been the catalyst for their success with some outstanding displays. He has been a legitimate MVP frontrunner throughout the first month of the season, averaging a league-leading 31.6 points and 9.9 assists per game.
Unfortunately for their rivals, the Rockets have the potential to get even better as All-Star point guard Chris Paul has only just returned from a knee injury and is still getting acclimated to his new team.
In his two games back, Paul posted 17 points and 10 assists in their dominant 26-point demolition of the Phoenix Suns, and had 17 points in 24 minutes in a 22-point win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
The early signs of the partnership between CP3 and Harden have been promising for the team as their offence looks even better.
Despite the scepticism from the outside, head coach Mike D'Antoni has always been confident that the backcourt tandem would figure things out quite easily.
“There shouldn’t be that much of an adjustment,” D’Antoni said. “When [Harden] has the ball, he’ll make the plays. When Chris has it, he’ll make it. I think they’ll share a little bit more and it should ease a lot of the fatigue [Harden] has because he has to make every play.”
'The Beard' has been lethal throughout the campaign and having watched him closely from the sidelines during his time out, Paul is already in awe of his scoring ability.
“I’ve never seen somebody score so effortlessly,” he said of his fellow guard.
The Rockets begin their home stretch by entertaining the Denver Nuggets to Toyota Center on Wednesday and will look to keep rolling.
