Tamika Mkandawire grabbed a second-half equaliser for Leyton Orient as struggling Gillingham failed to make it back-to-back home wins following this 1-1 draw.
After picking up their first victory of 2010 against Bristol Rovers on Saturday, the Gills took an early lead through Chris Dickson's first goal in his second loan spell for the club.
But Mkandawire made the home side pay for missed chances with a neat finish 18 minutes from time.
Simeon Jackson, who grabbed the last-minute winner against Rovers, helped set up the opener on eight minutes when his shot was parried by goalkeeper Jamie Jones but Dickson was on hand to bury the rebound.
Canadian international Jackson spurned a golden opportunity to double their lead on 41 minutes as he lifted the ball over the bar when clean through.
Orient had already gone in close through Jason Demetriou in the second half before centre-back Mkandawire pounced on 72 minutes as the home side failed to deal with Charlie Daniels' freekick.
Defender Garry Richards should have immediately restored the Gills' advantage but he headed Kevin Maher's freekick wide as Mark Stimson's side were left frustrated.
