League Two leaders Rochdale will be without Jason Taylor for the clash with Rotherham.
Midfielder Taylor, who has made 16 appearances for Dale so far this term, is ineligible under the terms of his loan deal from the Millers.
Full-back Rory McArdle is on standby should Scott Wiseman not be fit after he limped out of Saturday's 1-0 win over Macclesfield, while goalkeeper Frank Fielding should start despite also being in line to feature for England Under-21's in their clash with Greece on Wednesday.
Midfielder Ciaran Toner is pushing for a start after his impressive cameo at the weekend, with Will Atkinson, Temitope Obadeyi, Kallum Higginbotham and Andrew Howarth all competing for a place on the flanks.
Keith Hill's side are currently five points clear at the top of League Two and have won three of their last four outings.
Adam Le Fondre faces a late fitness test ahead of the showdown.
League Two`s leading scorer registered his 21st of the season to see off Burton 1-0 at the weekend but was forced off in the 87th minute with a hamstring strain.
Le Fondre is desperate to face his former employers but Millers manager Ronnie Moore is keen to ensure he is 100% fit for the clash and is not prepared to risk losing his star man for any longer than necessary.
Midfielder Gary Roberts continues to be doubtful with a shoulder problem, while long-term absentees Dale Tonge, Paul Warne (both foot) and Andy Liddell (Achilles) remain sidelined.
Recent loan signing Josh Walker should start once again having made his debut at the Pirelli Stadium as the fifth-placed Millers look for a positive display at Spotland.
And while Le Fondre will be hoping to do the damage against his former club, Chris O`Grady will be looking to do the same to Rotherham having already bagged 18 league goals this term for Dale.
