Barcelona have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Valencia striker David Villa, according to reports in the Spanish daily newspaper Sport.
The newspaper claims that Barcelona manger Pep Guardiola is lining up a summer bid for the Spanish star to replace French striker Thierry Henry.
Henry has endured a tough time at the Nou Camp and has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot.
Rumours are also growing that United striker Michael Owen could once again be on the move in the summer, as he goes in search of regular first-team football.
However, it is thought that only a bid in the region of £40 million will be enough to secure the services of Valencia’s prize asset.
Since his €12 million move to Valencia in 2005, Villa has made over 150 appearances for the Spanish side scoring 104 goals.
