When it comes to football punditry, Manchester United legend Gary Neville is certainly up there with the very best.Despite obviously being a fan of his former club, the former England international right-back is often one of the first to criticise and provide a fair assessment about the Red Devils. In the years he has been a fan favourite in the Sky Sports studio, United have been a pale shadow of the force the club was when Neville was there, with Sir Alex Ferguson winning trophies for fun.In the years since the Scot retired, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho have all had a go at trying to replicate his greatness at Old Trafford. The first two never got anywhere near Ferguson, but Mourinho appears to be doing a much better job, all be it with a more pragmatic style of football. Before United's game with West Brom, Neville raised a very important point in the studio about the club's recruitment and how it has impacted their success.

NEVILLE SPEAKS THE TRUTH

“United have signed 8 defenders in the past 4-5 years and not one of them is starting today," he said on Super Sunday.

"7 out of that 11 has been at the club 5 years ago. The recruitment hasn’t been good enough. It’s all over the place.”

A very interesting point raised and the recruitment has only started to improve under Mourinho, with Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic all thriving in his system.

United fans on Twitter were all in agreement with Neville's comments and felt he really hit home some serious truth bombs.

UNITED FANS REACT

Just talking straight sense.

The January transfer window could be another busy period for United's recruitment, with the likes of Luke Shaw and Henrikh Mkhitaryan likely to depart the club.

The question is, who can Mourinho bring in to help try and catch Manchester City?
