Chelsea are through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup after a dramatic victory against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

After Willian’s 13th-minute strike, it looked as though Antonio Conte’s side would cruise to a comfortable victory.

But the scoreline remained that way throughout the second-half as the visitors pushed for an equaliser. And they finally got their reward in the 90th-minute thanks to Dan Gosling’s fine finish.

Extra-time beckoned.

However, Chelsea had other ideas.

Brilliant play from Eden Hazard saw Alvaro Morata race through on goal and the Spaniard made no mistake with his finish.

Chelsea were into the last-four.

While the likes of Willian, Hazard, Morata, Cesc Fabregas, Gary Cahill and Pedro - amongst others - all played a key role in the victory, it was the performance of 17-year-old Ethan Ampadu that got everyone talking.

The defender’s stats from the match were mightily impressive, completing 87 of his 88 passes and looking comfortable in the backline.

It really was a performance beyond his years. And, luckily for us, a Chelsea fan has created an individual highlights video of his display for our pleasure.

CONTE ON AMPADU'S PERFORMANCE

And his manager was full of praise for the Welshman after the match.

“After one minute and 40 seconds, you decide to book a player who is 17-years-old... I think he played the whole game with this problem, and it's not simple for a defender to play after a yellow card in the second minute," said Conte.

“You have to play 93 minutes with this danger. But he showed great maturity and personality. If you remember, I spoke about this player in an enthusiastic way. I said in the past that this player, despite his young age, has shown great maturity.

“I don't like to make gifts for someone. If they deserve it, I'm ready to play with very young players. Why not. Ampadu deserved to play this game and against Everton and against Huddersfield [Town] in the league. Now he has to stay calm.

“Maybe next game, he'll go to play for the youth league. I don't know. But this player is very humble. He could have a great future, but he has to continue in this way, to improve and to work.”

He’s certainly one to keep an eye on for the future.
