Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain trolled by young Liverpool fans during school visit

Ask a bunch of Liverpool-supporting schoolchildren if they’d rather meet Santa Claus or Philippe Coutinho and most will plump for the latter.

So luckily for the football-mad pupils of St Paul’s Junior School, Brazilian star Coutinho and his countryman Roberto Firmino paid a visit in the run-up to Christmas.

Oh yes and some other guy was in tow – apparently the England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, formerly of Arsenal – not that many of the kids recognised him following his summer arrival at Anfield.

‘The Ox’ made the most of the ego-bursting school visit, though, recruiting several kids to come and knock on Jurgen Klopp’s office door as he bids to pressure the Reds boss to pick him more often.

As you can see by the watching the video below, when many of the children were asked about their favourite players, Coutinho and Firmino were frequently referred to - much to the disappointment of Oxlade-Chamberlain, who barely got a mention.

It even got to the point where he was forced to reminisce over the times he attended similar school events while he was at Arsenal.

"I used to do this at Arsenal. They used to love me. The kids used to love me in London," the 24-year-old joked.

It got even more awkward when one young Liverpool fan was asked whether he liked the aforementioned trio of Liverpool stars.

Without knowing they were innocently creeping up behind them, Ben confirmed he was a fan of Coutinho and Firmino but shook his head at Oxlade-Chamberlain - skip to 5:17 in the video.

To his credit, the England international was a good sport despite the constant trolling.

Of course, the Ox will be back in familiar surroundings on Friday when he returns to the Emirates for the first time since leaving Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

Although it has taken a while for the midfielder to adjust to life on Merseyside, he has featured more prominently in recent weeks for Jurgen Klopp and may very well start against his former team.
