The Christmas period is always a busy one in the Premier League calendar.Between tomorrow and January 4, there are only three days in which there isn’t a Premier League match. What a brilliant time to be a football fan, eh?While many countries take a break at this point, the games come thick and fast in England. Many managers are simply looking to come out of this busy stretch unscathed; without too many injuries and too many defeats. It’s highly likely that Pep Guardiola, whose Manchester City side have an 11-point lead over their nearest competitors, to rest some of his first-team stars. But that luxury won’t be afforded to every manager. The clubs fighting it out at the bottom of the table need maximum effort from each and every individual. They’re just going to have to get on with it.

Man United have questioned their schedule

Yet Manchester United, second in the table and playing their best football in some years, are unwilling to do just that.

The club have conducted research that claims to prove they have a tougher Christmas schedule than any of their rivals.

“Jose Mourinho's side have a total of six non-matchdays over the period - no club has fewer - while London trio Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham United can boast three more, due to the Gunners' clash with Liverpool being brought forward to this Friday and the Spurs versus West Ham derby moving back to 4 January,” an article on Man United’s website reads.

“Chelsea's matches are nicely spaced out to give them a total of eight days between games, while Liverpool and Manchester City have seven.

“The reigning champions have three days between their second and third games, unlike the one to be experienced by United and 14 other Premier League sides.

“A short trip to Arsenal on 3 January gives the Blues and the Gunners a little more grace.”

Man United's schedule:

Fans are laughing at Man United

Man United may have a point, but to openly write about it seems to cheapen one of the proudest clubs in the world.

And the club are getting slaughtered on social media for complaining about the schedule.

If Mourinho was so concerned by the schedule, why did he start Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in last night's Carabao Cup defeat to Bristol City?
