If there's one thing which WWE fans have been waiting for for the past two years which they are still yet to receive today, it is seeing Daniel Bryan wrestle inside a WWE ring once more.

The SmackDown general manager has not wrestled for the WWE since he announced his retirement from the ring back in February 2016 due to not being cleared by the company's own doctors to compete in the ring thanks to his concussion history.

However, Bryan has visited doctors outside the WWE for clearance, which he has received, and many fans have been latching on to this in hope that WWE changes their own mind and allows The King of Beards to compete once more.

During a recent interview on Rosenburg Radio, the SmackDown Live general manager spoke about a number of wrestling topics, including the possibility of him returning to the ring in the future, with or without the WWE.

Bryan confirmed that he will not continue on in his role as SmackDown general manager if he is not cleared to return to the ring by the time his current WWE deal expires, meaning he could be looking for an in-ring return outside of the company.

Bryan said, via Wrestling Inc: "If I get a bad test somewhere along the line, I won't wrestle. But I also, will probably, when my contract is up, I'd probably, if I'm still General Manager at that point, I'd probably step away from that part of it because just being around it, I love it a little too much and I need to transition. I need to get this focused because I'm very good at focusing on one thing, right?

"But then, I need to switch that laser focus to something else like saving the starving polar bears. So yeah, assuming everything continues as it has been going, when my [WWE] contract is up I would wrestle elsewhere if WWE would not clear me."

Bryan's current deal with the WWE expires at some point in September 2018, meaning we roughly only have around nine months of Bryan left with the company before he departs to wrestle once more unless WWE changes their mind on his in-ring future with them.

Dr. Joseph Maroon will be the person that makes the final decision regarding Bryan possibly being allowed to wrestle in WWE again. If he doesn't clear him, then it looks like The King of Beards will definitely look to compete outside of the company so long as doctors clear him to do so.
