Manchester City's 4-0 win over Bournemouth coupled with Manchester United's 2-2 draw at Leicester City has opened up a 13-point gap at the top of the table.

United had several clear-cut chances to put the game to bed at the King Power Stadium, and they were left to rue those missed opportunities when Harry Maguire bagged a 94th-minute equaliser.

Jose Mourinho was extremely frustrated with his team after the match, but his predecessor; Louis van Gaal, has been having his say on the man who replaced him at Old Trafford.

Last week, he labelled Mourinho's United as "boring", and now he's named the Red Devils star who should leave the club for Spanish giants Barcelona.

LvG: The Man Utd player who should join Barca

According to Van Gaal, fellow Dutchman Daley Blind should leave Man United and is technically good enough to move to current La Liga leaders Barca.

Speaking in Madrid, where he was a TV analyst for El Clasico, LvG said, via The Mirror: "Daley Blind is better off going to Barcelona, than staying with Man United.

“He is not even on the bench for United sometimes. Daley can play in more than one position and at Barcelona he would never be sat in the stand.”

The 66-year-old continued: “I think Daley would fit in better at Barcelona anyway. His (technical) level and his style of play is more suited to Spain than England.

“He can operate as a central defender who builds up the play. He can be a defensive midfielder or an attacking left back. Daley can do it all.’’

Is Van Gaal right?

Blind has made 13 appearances for Man Utd so far this season, but only four of those have come in the league and he's struggled to convince Mourinho of his value.

The 27-year-old failed to impress in a midfield role during the shock Carabao Cup defeat to Bristol City and was left completely out of the matchday squad for the draw with Leicester.

Blind has played almost exclusively as a left-back this term, however the Dutch international seems to be behind Ashley Young and Luke Shaw in the pecking order.

In contrast, under Van Gaal, Blind was deployed as a centre-back and played more minutes than any other United player in the 2015-16 campaign, racking up 56 appearances.

Given his lack of Premier League action, it won't be surprising if Blind is questioning his future at Man Utd, but his technical ability and versatility make him a useful asset for any squad.
