Over the past week or so, there has been lots of speculation flying around about Floyd Mayweather coming out of retirement for another fight once more, but this time competing inside the Octagon with UFC.

This lead to a lot of fighters putting their names forward as a possible opponent for the boxing legend. Even UFC president Dana White said he was in talks with Mayweather during an interview with ESPN. It seemed too good to be true, and it was.

Mayweather denied the reports stating he was joining UFC, saying earlier this week that people misunderstood what he said last week about the promotion, claiming in an interview that he didn’t say he was going to compete in MMA, he said he could make a billion dollars in the UFC if he decided to.

While this might be disappointing for some UFC fans, one fighter is still lobbying for a fight in hope that he can change the boxer's mind. UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson has made an interesting proposition for Mayweather to lure him into the Octagon.

Mighty Mouse told TMZ Sports that he would fight Mayweather in a handicap match where he wouldn’t use his grappling at all, which would make for very interesting viewing.

Johnson said: “I think it would go very well for me, obviously. I’m very well-rounded. It’s mixed martial arts. I would even do a handicap. I won’t even grapple with him. I won’t even go to the ground at all. I’ll get him in the clinch, bang up, hit him in the liver, kick him in the liver, take out his legs and work him.”

As for how the fight would go, Mighty Mouse believes it can only end with a win for him.

“100 percent [I would win]. Yeah, of course. You have the clinch, there’s kicks, there’s elbows, it’s mixed martial arts. I come from one of the great coaches - Matt Hume, Brad Kertson - and my skill set is well-rounded.

“I’d probably get after that liver. Have to get after that liver. Beat him up in the Muay Thai clinch because he likes to clinch a lot. You see it in his boxing, when he clinches, once we initiate that clinch, I’m gonna throw a knee right to his liver.”

He finished by saying: “Floyd, come over here and beat up the smallest guy in the UFC. Come try your hand, try to beat up the smallest guy.”
