The 2018 Royal Rumble match is approaching fast, and many WWE fans have begun to cast their bets as to who they believe will emerge victorious.

The winner of the rumble is likely to move on to main event WrestleMania and challenge a champion of their choosing. Currently, two World Titles linger in WWE - the Universal Championship on Monday Night RAW (currently held by Brock Lesnar), and the WWE Championship on SmackDown Live (currently held by AJ Styles).

There are plenty of candidates to walk out of the Wells Fargo Center on January 28th as the winner of the 2018 Royal Rumble, but we've chosen the top three likeliest names to win the honors. Let's get started with our three WWE stars that could win the 2018 Royal Rumble:

3. Roman Reigns

This was an obvious name to put on the list. For the past several years "The Big Dog" has been the poster boy of WWE and has been groomed to takeover as the face of the company. Current plans have Reigns taking on Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 34 this upcoming April.

The best way to set up the WrestleMania main event is to have Reigns win the Rumble. Having him win his second-ever Royal Rumble match would certainly boost Reigns' stock and lock him in for a title match against Lesnar in New Orleans.

2. John Cena

It's no secret that for the past decade John Cena has been the face of the WWE. "The Leader Of The Cenation" is a record-tying 16-time WWE World Champion and is considered to be one of the greatest professional wresters of all time.

Cena has the star power, unrivaled promo skills, and despite what anybody says about his in-ring ability he has put on some of the best matches of all time. Currently dubbed as "WWE's Free Agent," Cena is free to challenge for any World Title on either RAW or SmackDown Live.

It should be interesting to see if WWE grants Cena a Royal Rumble win in order for him to go on to main event WrestleMania yet again in his illustrious career, perhaps downing AJ Styles - who he has proven to put on extraordinary matches with in the past - to win his all-time record 17th World Title.

1. Shinsuke Nakamura

Brace yourselves, because "The Artist" Shinsuke Nakamura could be on his way to headlining WrestleMania 34. Nakamura is one of the best in-ring performers on the WWE's roster today, and he has a bit of history with the current WWE Champion.

A Royal Rumble win for Nakamura would legitimize him as one of WWE's top stars, and set up a dream match for WWE fans against WWE Champion AJ Styles.

The pair have wrestled against one another during their days in Japan, but on a much larger platform, expect these two to put on one for the ages inside a WWE ring.

What are your thoughts on our list of the top three names who deserve to win the 2018 Royal Rumble match? Do you think that we missed any key names?
