Today marks the NBA's biggest and most popular day in the regular season as the best teams and players go head to head in a marquee slate of Christmas games.

This has been a league tradition for decades and allows fans from all over the world to enjoy the best the NBA has to offer in terms of talent and entertainment.

Many stars past and present have made their mark on Christmas Day by producing big performances in front a global audience.

Here are five of the best displays on Christmas:

LeBron James - Miami Heat vs L.A. Lakers (2010)

In his first visit to Staples Center as a member of the Heat, LeBron put on a terrific display as he led his new team to a 96-80 thumping of the two-time defending champions.

The King notched his third triple-double with Miami with 27 points, 11, rebounds and 10 assists while hitting a season-high five three-pointers. Kobe Bryant, meanwhile, was held to just 17 points in L.A.'s loss.

Tracy McGrady - Orlando Magic vs Detroit Pistons (2002)

T-Mac was not expected to feature in this game as he was hurt coming into the contest. But the Hall of Famer decided to play through the pain and produced a memorable performance.

McGrady torched the Pistons for 46 points, six rebounds, and three steals to inspire the Magic to a 104-99 victory.

Dwyane Wade - Miami Heat vs L.A. Lakers (2006)

This showdown was hyped as a one-on-one battle between Wade and Kobe but only one player showed up on the night as the former put on a show in front of his home fans in South Beach.

D.Wade went off for 40 points, 11 assists, four steals and four blocks in the Heat's 101-85 victory. Bryant was held to just 16 points.

Michael Jordan - Chicago Bulls vs New York Knicks (1992)

The G.O.A.T was obviously going to feature in this list and he produced one of the countless masterful displays of his career on this occasion as he dominated the Knicks.

Jordan went off for 42 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in the Bulls' 89-77 victory before deciding to take up baseball at the end of that campaign.

Bernard King - New York Knicks vs New Jersey Nets (1984)

The Knicks legend still owns the greatest Christmas Day performance in NBA history and nobody has come close to topping it yet.

King scored a ridiculous 60 points in just 41 minutes. It was a losing effort but he managed to hit 19-of-30 shots in addition to 22-of-26 attempts from the charity stripe in a stunning individual display.
