Alexa Bliss on fans' criticism of her in-ring ability

Alexa Bliss may be the hottest talent on the WWE's female roster, but she's still getting criticism from many fans regarding her ability inside the ring.

The former NXT standout is already the most successful champion of the Women's Revolution era after having won both the RAW and SmackDown Live Women's Championships during her tenure on the main roster.

Bliss has also been involved in some great storylines and gets one of the biggest pops of any woman on the WWE's roster. Although she's one of the integral parts of the Women's Revolution, she has still come under fire for her abilities inside the ring.

She recently joined Sam Roberts' Wrestling podcast to discuss her time on the WWE's main roster, and commented on the comparisons she gets on her in-ring work; compared to other women such as Paige, Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and so many more.

Bliss explained that the reason she faces these kind of criticisms is because she doesn't use "flashy moves" inside of the ring. The reason she doesn't work that way is because she is currently portraying a heel character (quotes via IWNerd):

“When I was in NXT, I was still training every day. I was still in the ring every day and working every live event. And just because I wasn’t on shows that were taped for NXT TV, I don’t think people knew what skills I could do.

"And being a bad guy, I try not to do a lot of flashy moves and a lot of, I guess, good guy skills because that’s not my character and I feel like people take that as, ‘oh, well, she’s not as skilled as Sasha [Banks] or Bayley, Charlotte [Flair], or Becky [Lynch].

"But, I take that as a challenge. I’m like, ‘well, I can do all these things. I chose not to because I don’t have to. My character isn’t supposed to be flashy and be over-the-top.

"I’m supposed to be dirty in the ring. I’m supposed to kick and punch and I’m supposed to cheat and find ways to win at all costs.”

What are your thoughts on Bliss' comments regarding fans' criticism of her in-ring work, as opposed to that of those in The Four Horsewomen? Do you think that Bliss has more wrestling ability than she is letting on? And will we ever see any fancy moves from "Five Feet Of Fury" as her professional wrestling career progresses? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
