Matt Hardy has finally brought over his "Broken" gimmick to the WWE, and fans are absolutely loving it so far.

Hardy established the "Broken Universe" after leaving WWE initially several years ago, creating the new alter ego in IMAPCT Wrestling in conjunction with several indie appearances around the world as well. Alongside his brother, Jeff, Hardy built up a huge fan-favorite gimmick in the professional wrestling world.

After deciding to leave IMPACT Hardy was hit with a cease and desist order from the promotion, indicating that the "Broken" gimmick was their intellectual property and he was not able to use it elsewhere without their permission.

Just several weeks later The Hardys returned to WWE at WrestleMania 33 to win the RAW Tag Team Titles under their old Hardy Boyz gimmick. Despite no longer being able to be fully "Broken" Hardy continued his legal quest to regain control of the gimmick.

Eventually Hardy finally obtained the legal rights to the gimmick and has been debuting the character to the WWE Universe over the past several weeks via video promos with Bray Wyatt.

Hardy and Wyatt have now begun a massive feud that will likely come to a head at the Royal Rumble next month. At a recent live event Hardy made his in-ring debut with the gimmick and was given a new theme.

It was similar to the signature piano music that has made the gimmick so iconic in IMAPCT Wrestling and on the indies. Check it out here:

With Hardy now revitalized as a singles competitor in WWE and Vince McMahon reportedly being a huge fan of the character, there's no telling how far he can go as a singles talent. It should be interesting to see if "Woken" Matt gets any sort of singles title run before his brother returns from injury.

What are your thoughts on WWE giving Hardy the piano theme that went along with his "Broken" persona for so long? Do you think that there will be any more legal issues between IMPACT Wrestling and hardy over the "Broken Universe?" And how far do you think Hardy can get with this new gimmick in WWE? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
